AN ACT relating to courts; requesting that the Nevada Supreme Court study procedures for notifying defendants and person

Existing law: (1) requires a peace officer to collect a telephone number and an indication of whether a person who is issued a civil infraction citation agrees to receive communications by text message; and (2) authorizes a court to send certain communications relating to civil infraction citations by text message. (NRS 484A.7035, 484A.704) This bill requests that the Nevada Supreme Court: (1) study procedures for notifying defendants and persons who are issued a civil infraction citation of certain information; (2) consider, without limitation, best practices, input from interested stakeholders and the technological needs of the courts when studying such procedures; and (3) adopt court or administrative rules governing such procedures.
