Why it exists
Nevada has more functioning democracy than most states. It also has a permanent corporate class — gaming, utilities, healthcare, real estate, mining — that buys access on every cycle, regardless of who wins. Both things are true at once. This site documents the second one because most of the local press doesn't, and what's left of the national press doesn't cover Nevada at all.
What it isn't
- Not a partisan publication. Both parties' donors, both parties' revolving-door appointees, and both parties' captured regulators are in scope.
- Not an opinion site. The verticals describe filings; the methodology page is where editorial framing belongs.
- Not a tip line. We don't run a form on this site. Tips and documents go through the SecureDrop on Nevada Whistleblowers.
- Not a comprehensive newsroom. We work the corporate-capture beat — not crime, not horse-race coverage, not endorsements.
Sister sites
This site shares an editorial approach with several other public-records projects covering Nevada:
- nevadacampaigncontributions.com — full per-candidate, per-cycle, per-jurisdiction view of the campaign-finance dataset that backs our donor page.
- nvgoptracker.com — Nevada Republican legislator tracker.
- nevadapublicrecordrequests.com — public-records request system.
- nevadawhistleblowers.com — SecureDrop tip line.
Funding
This site is self-funded. It accepts no advertising, no sponsorship, no donor money. The cost of running it (a small VPS, a domain, and time) is paid by the operator.
